I mean, you’re only at the Super Bowl once right? Why not attend in style. It is New Orleans after all.
As a young girl watching the 2000 Super Bowl, I decided sports broadcasting was not only what I wanted to do, but it was what I was meant to do. 12 years later, working at a sports radio station in Baltimore & having the privilege of being able to be present, I can honestly say that that dream has come full circle. It didn’t come without hard work, stress, or moments of complete & utter distress though. There were definitely periods of ten hours without food & a combined 14 hours of sleep since Thursday, but words cannot express how grateful I am for the experience. It is certainly something that will be engrained in my memory for the rest of my life. For those who weren’t there, here are a few snapshots from this weekend. Perhaps one of my favorite long weekends to date.
Before it was cool..
This is pure genius.
You place fruit or herbs or cucumber slices or whatever you want in the bottom compartment. Twist the top back on, and a grinder gently mashes your infusion ingredients. Fill with water, and the water infuses with your goodies, all while a mesh strainer keeps the pulp and floaties out of your agua!
Can’t get enough of cucumber & lemon infused water these days. Aka this is money.
Learn to like what doesn’t cost much.
Learn to like reading, conversation, music.
Learn to like plain food, plain service, plain cooking.
Learn to like fields, trees, brooks, hiking, rowing, climbing hills.
Learn to like people, even though some of them may be different…different from you.
Learn to like to work and enjoy the satisfaction doing your job as well as it can be done.
Learn to like the song of birds, the companionship of dogs.
Learn to like gardening, puttering around the house, and fixing things.
Learn to like the sunrise and sunset, the beating of rain on the roof and windows, and the gentle fall of snow on a winter day.
Learn to keep your wants simple and refuse to be controlled by the likes and dislikes of others.

that is why it is so important to let certain things go. to release them. to cut loose. people need to understand that no one is playing with marked cards; sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. don’t expect to get anything back, don’t expect recognition for your efforts, don’t expect your…
